It has been observed that low-level sidetone has less effect on vocal level than higher sidetone levels. Recent investigations reported in this letter show that this nonlinearity is caused by neglecting the effects of head and air-leakage sidetone in the measurements of the sidetone level. When these effects are included, a linear relationship between vocal level and sidetone level is obtained.
