Several excellent books and many interesting papers on Land Law and Cadastral Surveying have been published in recent years and these have prompted the following comments on several aspects of cadastral surveying in Victoria. The paper contains discussion on the Victorian Cadastre, the statutory function of a Licensed Surveyor in Victoria with respect to title surveys, title boundaries, general and fixed boundaries and possible future development of the cadastral survey system. The paper also includes discussion on recent proposals in South Australia for the development of its cadastral survey.
