SUMMARY Craniofacial trauma may result in both acute and chronic manifestations of TMJ derangement. As the relationships between TMJ disease, facial skeleton remodeling, and growth disturbances become more widely understood, the need for sophisticated TMJ imaging studies and radiologic consultation should increase substantially.
