A simple method calculating the ocean current velocity on or near the equator is suggested. The curvature of the isobaric surface determines the E-W component of the current velocity on the equator.Some numerical examples are given, use being made of the data of the Japanese Hydrographic Office and U. S. Fish and Wildlife Service.
