Difficult determination of the solubility of nickel in silicon is made by neutron activation analysis. Discs of p-type silicon are plated with nickel and irradiated. Activity of the Ni/sup 58/(n,p)Co/sup 58/ product is analyzed, showing that nickel and copper have solubility of the same order of magnitude in silicon. (D.C.W.)
