Presentation of CaseA twenty-nine-year-old university instructor entered the hospital because of chest pain.Twenty months previously the patient consulted a physician because a heart murmur had been heard on a life insurance examination. No murmur had been reported on previous examinations for insurance or for Selective Service. He stated that his health had always been excellent, and there was no history of rheumatic fever, chorea, frequent epistaxis, growing pains, syphilis, cyanosis, edema, dyspnea, orthopnea or chest pain.
