The magnetic properties of the Heusler alloy Au2MnAl have been studied in the range - 190 °c to 400 °c. The σ∞,0 values for a quenched and slowcooled sample are 28 and 55 e.m.u. g-1 respectively, the latter corresponding to a μB value of 4.75 per Au2MnAl group. The differences are attributed to a variation in the degree of order. The Curie point of the more highly ordered sample is - 53 °C. Above 120 °C the inverse susceptibility/temperature curve has a pronounced curvature. The results are discussed in terms of current theories and attention is drawn to the complexity of the situation regarding the magnetic interactions in these structures.
