Design criteria for construction of helices for microwave spectrometers are discussed with particular attention to large magnetic fields required for double resonance work. Some coil-to-guide matching techniques are evaluated with regard to efficiency, sensitivity, and simplicity. Techniques of coil and match evaluation are discussed in detail.
