Infrared studies in N2O-doped free-standing crystals of Xe and Ar are reported. N2O isolates as monomers in Xe; however, it segregates by clustering in Ar. An anomalous temperature dependence of monomeric absorption intensities is observed in Xe, suggesting a strong guest-host electronic interaction.
