Cellulose acetate nanofiber membranes containing hydroxyapatite co-doped with Ag/Fe were efficaciously attained through the electrospinning technique. Different molar ratio compositions of hydroxyapatite co-doped with Ag/Fe in the structure of the cellulose acetate membrane were detected from several aspects towards different applications. The obtained fibers membrane was characterized through field-emission scanning electron microscopic (FE-SEM), atomic force microscopy (AFM) and X-ray diffraction (XRD) to affirm the morphological as well as the phases of the prepared materials. The functionalized cellulose acetate nanofiber membrane with hydroxyapatite co-doped with Ag/Fe can retain respectable fibrous morphology with good mechanical properties, antibacterial potency behavior as well as a high level of dye degradation for water treatment applications. The fabricated materials demonstrated outstanding mechanical properties as the tensile strength (MPa) = 7.190.7, 6.521.1, 6.550.8, 9.571.2 and 10.631.4, while toughness (MJ/m3) of 6.430.8, 4.790.6, 3.560.7, 5.381.1 and 9.240.9 for 0.0Ag/Fe-HAP@CA, 0.2Ag/Fe-HAP@CA, 0.4Ag/Fe-HAP@CA, 0.6Ag/Fe-HAP@CA and 0.8Ag/Fe-HAP@CA, respectively. Attributable to the electrostatic attraction, the fibers confirm strong adsorption toward positively charged cationic dye methylene blue (MB) with good recyclability. Additionally, the obtained membrane could accomplish antibacterial potency headed for altered categories of bacteria containing E.coli and S.aureus. The acquired results deliver a novel viewpoint towards the straightforwardly construct of nanofibrous membrane materials to accomplish the applications of the dual function of antibacterial and photocatalyst for the elimination of toxic dyes from wastewater.
