A series of new fluorinated poly(1,3,4‐oxadiazole‐imide‐amide)s containing various ratios of amide/oxadiazole groups in the repeating unit have been prepared by cyclodehydration of the corresponding poly(hydrazide‐imide‐amide)s resulting from the reaction of diacid dichlorides incorporating both hexafluoroisopropylidene bridges and imide rings with p‐aminobenzhydrazide or with mixtures of certain aromatic diamines and p‐aminobenzhydrazide or terephthalic dihydrazide. The new polymers are soluble in polar amidic solvents and can be processed into flexible films by casting from solution. Their glass transition temperatures are in the range 254–325°C and they are thermally stable up to 415–450°C.
