The unsteady free-convection boundary layer development at the upper stagnation point on a circular cylinder is considered. The temperature of the cylinder is suddenly raised at some initial instant and the resulting flow properties are investigated. Numerical results are presented which indicate a singularity at finite time and supporting analytical results are shown to describe the gross properties.
