Experiments are reported which confirm Mack's prediction that the fundamental symmetric standing wave on a layer of liquid in a circular cylinder will increase in frequency as the amplitude increases for a shallow layer but decrease in frequency for deep layers. The depth-diameter ratio at which the frequency effect reversal occurs is found to be about 0.054. The predicted ratio is 0.111.
