The chemical composition of the steam volatiles obtained from the inflorescences of six Euphorbia spp., E. acanthothamnos, E. apios, E. characias, E. dendroides, E. helioscopia and E. rigida , were analysed by GC and GC‐MS. Sixty‐nine components, representing 82–94% of the total composition for the six oils, were identified. The major components were found to be nonanal, germacrene, phytol, β‐caryophyllene, heneicosane and heptacosane.
