Linoleic and linolenic acids were found to be phagostimulants for the imported fire ant. The triglyceride of linoleic acid was the most active. Some feeding activity was elicited by glycerol and to a lesser extent by glucose and trehalose. Several phospholipids exhibited some activity as feeding stimulants, which may be due to the presence of linoleic acid as part of the molecule.
