The synthesis and characterization of two (dppp)Pt complexes with the stannaborate ligand SnB11H11 is described. In the case of the salt [Bu3MeN]2[(dppp)Pt(SnB11H11)2] the structure in the solid state was determined by X-ray crystal structure analysis. As a result of comparative catalysis studies between SnCl3 and [SnB11H11]−-substituted platinum complexes we found selective hydroformylation of 1-octene catalysed by the [(dppp)PtPh(SnB11H11)]− and [(dppp)Pt(SnB11H11)2]2− complexes.
