The preparation and photoelectrochemical properties of polycrystalline n‐type electrodes doped with various amounts of beryllium are reported. The photoassisted electrooxidation of water at some of these electrodes starts at potentials negative vs. the hydrogen electrode in the same solution. The quantum efficiency and current vs. potential characteristics of Be‐doped photoanodes appear to be significantly improved in comparison with the undoped electrodes.
