The synthesis of the 7α‐methyl homologues of estrone, estradiol, 17α‐methyl‐ and 17α‐ethinyl‐estradiol, and of the respective 3‐methyl ethers is described. Their estrogenic activity is compared with that of the corresponding unmethylated compounds.
