A spectrofluorophosphorimeter is described which is fully electronically compensated for both excitation intensity variations and the spectral sensitivity of the detecting monochromator and photomultiplier. The instrument has been applied to the study of the luminescence of wool keratin and has been successful in detecting the phosphorescent emission from tryptophan in wool keratin at room temperature.
