Semiclassical values for the numbers and density of bound states of the screened Coulomb potential are compared with quantum mechanical results. Good agreement is found in some cases but there is disagreement with the recent values of Preist for the total number of bound states. The accuracy of the semiclassical values has been confirmed by sample checks using an alternative method of solving the quantum mechanical problem. The regions of energy and angular momentum where quasi-bound states of this potential may occur are discussed.
