A quasireciprocal relation is pointed out between the Cs iv and β-Sn structures. This relation comes from a certain symmetry of the Madelung constant in a family of tetragonal diamond structures. The product of the axial ratios c/a for the two structures is predicted to be 2.0084, slightly lower than the experimental value 2.04-2.05 and very close to (c/a)²=2 for the ideal diamond structure: a manifestation of the reciprocal relation.
