Field survey uncovers two new parasitoid wasp records in regional insect populations, highlighting expanded geographic distributions of Scelionidae.
This study, conducted between 2022 and 2023, investigated the fauna of parasitoids in the family Scelionidae in the north of East Azerbaijan Province, Iran. A total of 574 specimens were collected, with 296 collected by pan traps and 278 collected by the Malaise traps. In this study, we report species from five genera: Gryon Haliday and Psix Kozlov & Lê (Scelioninae), Xenomerus Walker (Teleasinae), Telenomus Haliday and Trissolcus Ashmead (Telenominae). Two species, Xenomerus canariensis Huggert, 1979, and Gryon szelenyii (Szabo, 1966), are recorded for the first time in Iran. Informative photos, along with the diagnostic characters of the newly recorded species, are provided.
