The authors have measured the NaNa absorption coefficient in absolute units over the 350-1075 nm wavelength region for temperatures between 1000 and 1500 K. The authors observe, among many other bands, the b(1) 3+ g from a(1) 3+ u transition for the first time in absorption. In this entire spectral region the NaNa absorption coefficients is compared, in absolute units, with semiclassical Szudy-Baylis calculations using potentials and transition dipole moments known from the literature. There is good agreement between experiments and calculations, after slightly shifting (250 cm -1 ) some of these potentials.
