Amorphous alloys in the series Co80MoxB20−x and Co80ZrxB20−x have been produced through melt spinning. The magnetic moment per Co atom has been measured as a function of early transition metal (TE) addition and compared with earlier data on the Co80NbxB20−x. The influence of the TE additions are understood through the split band model though quantitative differences exist due to the influence of B–Te p-d hybrid bonding and its competition with Co-TE interactions in moment suppression.
