Values of ionization and attachment coefficients can be determined from (log I, d ) plots by a process of curve-fitting, but to obtain accurate values a knowledge of I 0 , the initial photoelectric current, is required. Methods of determining this quantity are briefly described and the accuracy of the various methods investigated in a strongly attaching gas, CCl 2 F 2 .
