Pure platinum foils were quenched from high temperatures to liquid helium temperature in order to freeze in a high vacancy concentration. The lattice parameter change Delta a/a and electrical resistivity change Delta rho were measured simultaneously on the same sample. The defect specific ratio of both property changes was found to be eta v =(( Delta a/a) Delta rho ) V Pt =-(0.24+or-0.03) 10 3 ( Omega cm) -1 . A characteristic specific volume change ( Delta V/ Omega V Pt =-(0.42+or-0.06) due to vacancies in platinum was obtained.
