It has been shown that humic acids, present in the raw water supply of a power station, are adsorbed by a strongly basic anion‐exchange resin in a mixed‐bed de‐ionisation unit. Such acids are not completely removed during regeneration of the resin, and their presence on the resin reduces its capacity. Methods for removing humic acids have been studied, and suggestions are made for restricting their concentration on strongly basic resins.
