The dipole moments of symmetrically substituted 2,7‐dialkyl‐4,5‐benztropones have been determined; their dependance on the type of alkyl groups (alkyl = methyl, ethyl, propyl, hexyl, iso‐propyl, tert.‐butyl) is discussed.
