Isotretinoin is most frequently prescribed for recalcitrant nodulocystic acne ( 1 ). Elevation of the serum triglyceride level has been previously reported (2). We report a case of pancreatitis precipitated by hypertriglyceridemia associated with isotretinoin therapy.A 43-year-old white woman had a 10-year history of nodulocystic acne and hidradenitis suppurativa refractory to oral tetracyclines and topical therapy. Isotretinoin had been instituted at 40 mg orally twice daily (1.0 mg/kg bodyweight · d) after baseline fasting laboratory studies...References1. SPEARMULLER LS.
