A novel, independently alterable, synthetic, multispectral material filter for the visible and terahertz ranges is based on double-layered, complementary cut wires to construct a thin-film etalon structure. It can be fully fabricated by the conventional photolithography process and is confirmed to work as an alterable transmissive filter in both the visible and terahertz ranges.
