Summary and Conclusions The medical pedigree of a kindred of 50 members is presented. The findings in this kindred suggest the possibility of two genetically determined syndromes, namely those of the “cancer family” and “heritable solitary colonic polyps.” Review and interpretation of evidence already documented suggests that the two syndromes are identical. “Cancer-family syndrome” would seem to be the better descriptive term for the changes observed; it covers those aspects of the syndrome which can be verified with greatest reliability.
