Summary. The permeability of the guinea‐pig placenta to I131labeled triiodothyronine was investigated. Two to four hours after subcutaneous administration of the substance, samples were taken and counted. A significant difference in radioactivity was demonstrable between the maternal and foetal samples. The results indicate that the placenta is virtually impermeable to exogenous triiodothyronine in the first hours after its subcutaneous administration.
