A circular economy, in which repair of consumer electronics instead of replacement is the norm, is essential for sustainability. However, currently, repair rates are typically low, primarily due to the high price of repair. Traditional repair shops typically offer only a few fixed tiers of repair pricing, which may not be tailored to the specific needs of the customer. This study aims to create a personalised repair price based on the customer's specific needs, in order to increase the number of repairs and improve cost-effectiveness. The research will involve using collected data on household repairs in Belgium to identify all of the parameters affecting the repair price of consumer electronics. These parameters will then be quantified in a repair cost equation and used to create hypothetical scenarios that demonstrate the cost-effectiveness of personalised repair options. Additionally, customers will be given the option to choose from these parameters, allowing them to have fine control over the final repair price and allowing for a personalised repair solution for each customer. This approach will benefit both customers and repair businesses; through lower operational costs allowing reduced repair prices and a higher number of customers served, through increased client efficiency.
