The torque of the hip abductor and adductor muscles during successive attempts at maximum isometric contraction at repeated testing sessions was evaluated for eighty normal subjects. Half of the subjects were in the age group from eighteen to thirty-three years; half, from forty to fifty-five years. Half of each age group were males. Measurements were made in two hip joint positions: with the thighs parallel, and with the thighs abducted 25 degrees.
