RNA preparations from livers and kidneys of adult chickens were qualitatively distinguished by DNA‐RNA hybridizations involving double saturation experiments. This technique was used to study the temporal and regional synthesis of liver‐like RNA in the developing chicken embryo. It was found that the amount of liver‐like RNA in the embryo increases from two and one half days to three and one half days of development. Furthermore, this liver‐like RNA was found in greater amounts in the areas of three and one half day embryos containing the differentiating liver rudiment.
