Our aim is to investigate the shape of a graphene membrane on a substrate when nano-sized ball-shaped silica nanoparticles are deposited on a silica substrate. The deflection profile is determined by minimizing the total energy, i.e. the sum of the stretching, bending and adhesion energies. The critical distance between the balls is analysed as a function of the ball’s diameter.
