Electronic specific-heat data indicated that the critical temperature of Mo- Nb should pass through a minimum near a Nb/sub 0.30/Mo/sub 0.70/ composition. Tests showed the aiioy to be a superconductor with a zero-fieid transition temperature of 0.018 deg K. A stray magnetic field of 1.5 gauss was sufficient to suppress the superconductivity, and superconductivity was observed only when the sample was shielded. A d-c mutual inductance method was used to detect the transition. The magnitude of the critical magnetic fields was also examined. (D.C.W.)
