An unusual phenotype of erythrocytes, with the reduced expression of ID and i antigens and with the normal expression of IF antigen, is reported. Ii antigens in the described erythrocytes have been characterized by agglutination and absorption‐elution methods, and by haemagglutination‐inhibition with erythrocyte membrane glycoproteins. A slight decrease in the expression of ID antigen has also been found in erythrocytes of the propositus' family.
