Out of 53 cases of sera with an anti‐HL‐A fetal‐maternal immunization, in which the phenotype of the immunizer and the immunized women are known, 27 have antibodies whose specificity is broader than that of the immunizing antigen. The HL‐A phenotype of the immunized woman seems to play a part equally important to that of the immunizer in directing the broadening of immunization.
