NUMEROUS experiments have been conducted with antibiotics in diets of chickens (Matterson et al., 1951; Davis and Briggs, 1951; Biely and March, 1951; Heuser and Norris, 1952; Bird et al., 1952; Machlin et al., 1952; Waibel et al., 1954; Libby and Schaible, 1955; Potter et al., 1962b; Nelson et al., 1963; Combs and Bossard, 1963) and in diets of turkeys (Stokstad and Jukes, 1950; Almquist and Merritt, 1951; Branion and Hill, 1951; Davis and Briggs, 1951; McGinnis et al., 1951, 1958; Atkinson and Couch, 1952; Williams and Hill, 1952; Moran and McGinnis, 1965). Yet, the effectiveness of various levels of different antibiotics in promoting growth in present day turkey diets needs further investigation and verification.
