Studies indicated that dopamine and other catechol-and phenol-containing amines adsorb rapidly onto platinum surfaces. Using this phenomenon to pre-concentrate these compounds at a platinum electrode prior to differential pulse voltammetric analysis, a minimum detectable dopamine concentration of 5 × 10 M can be directly determined.
