The high-power long pipeline liquid supply system is subject to strongly time-varying loads, resulting in severe pressure surges that affects its reliability. Facing complex unsteady flow characteristics, accurately mastering the pressure transfer, evolution, and response law of the high-pressure, large-flow long pipeline liquid supply system is the premise for realizing accurate control of the high-power liquid supply system and ensuring liquid supply quality. In this study, the long pipeline of the hydraulic support liquid supply system is taken as the research object, and a high-pressure, large-flow unsteady flow pipeline dynamics model is established. Numerical solutions are obtained using the Method of Characteristics to explore the dynamic pressure change process in the long pipeline. The evolution of pressure loss and response lag characteristics under different boundary conditions is analyzed. In addition, a test bench for the long pipeline liquid supply system of the hydraulic support is built. The accuracy of the pipeline model applied to transient unsteady flow is verified by water hammer test, and the numerically solved pressure response lag time has an error of about 6.5% relative to the experimental pressure response time. The results indicate that the calculation error of applying the unsteady flow dynamic model to the pressure loss in a long pipeline is 8.8%.
