In 1965, a study on larval migration of Diabrotica virgifera LeConte was conducted near Rock Port, Missouri. Migration plots were designed to investigate larval movement in the soil for distances of 10, 20, 30, and 40 inches. The soil within each plot was removed and replaced with fumigated soil from a noninfested area. Infestation was dependent upon natural conditions existing in the soil between plots. Larval movement occurred over all distances studied.
