Complexes of transition metals with cysteinyl-cysteine: cys-cys are of interest as models for metalloproteins such as metallothionein. Infrared and Raman Spectra of cys-cys, Ni (II)- (cys-cys)2 and Zn (II)-(cys-cys)2 complexes are reported. The results show that the dipeptide is bound to transition metals through sulfur only.
