Case 4.-For six months this 57-year-old man had been suffering from severe lumbar pain. No abnormality was found on examination. The testes were noted to be normal. Radio- graphs revealed destruction of the second lumbar vertebra, but further investigations, including blood and marrow examina- tion, electrophoresis of serum proteins, skeletal survey, and an intravenous pyelogram, were all normal.
