Conductance and signal measurements are presented for interdigital transducers on rotated Z-cut X-propagating lithium niobate. The +41.5° rotated cut is shown to be a superior one for Rayleigh wave generation compared to the conventional Y-cut Z-propagating material. It has a higher electromechanical coupling constant and noticeably greater freedom from bulk wave generation at least up to the third harmonic Rayleigh wave frequency.
