Cadmium in the blood has been considered to be bound to haemoglobin. In the blood of mice given repeated injections of CdCl2 (0.5 mg Cd/kg), however, more than 60 per cent of the cadmium was bound to a protein substance with low molecular weight (about 10,000), clearly separable from haemoglobin by G‐75 Sephadex chromatography. In other mice given repeated injections of 0.25 mg Cd/kg, about 25 per cent of blood‐cadmium was associated with this substance.
