The influence of permanent electric fields (up to E = 10 kV7/cm) upon the temperature dependences of the dielectric constant, ε(T), of (Pb1−xBax)ZrO3 solid solutions (0 ≦ × = 0.20) is studied. In all of these substances an intermediate phase is detected between a low-temperature antiferroelectric phase and a high-temperature paraelectric one, both on heating and cooling. On the basis of the character of the electric field influence on the Curie temperature and εmax the ferroelectric nature of the intermediate phase is unambiguously established and a more precise phase diagram of the (Pb1−xBax)ZrO3 system is plotted.
