A new type of ferroelectric loop tracer is described which allows continuous compensation for stray capacitances and resistive losses of the sample. The loop tracer works at various frequencies, here 0.1 Hz to 100 Hz, and plots the hysteresis loops at various scales directly onto a chart recorder. A facility exists for sampling any point on the hysteresis loop, thus alloying the loop parameters to be monitored as a function of temperature, frequency, etc. The applied signal, in contrast to the normally used sine wave, is triangular.
