The results of a theoretical investigation of the resistivity, susceptibility, and spin relaxation time of a Kondo system is presented. It is found that the Kondo term ρK in the resistivity is proportional to ln [1+T2/(r−2+ω02)], where ω0 is the molecular field acting on the impurity spins. This result is found to be in excellent agreement with experiment. The dependence of θ2=τ−2+ω02 on temperature and on the concentrations of magnetic impurities and of spin-orbit scatterers is discussed. Experiments are proposed to test the ideas set forth and to probe the nature of the Kondo spin polarization cloud.
